Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

I was just let go this last week, too. My reviews were always stellar, I've put in four and a half years teaching for them. Helped come up with improvements to the intro-level English course. Did everything right. In the last year, they forced rubrics on us which inflated grades, did this whole punch-the-clock thing, and started reporting our "attrition rate" to us--the number of students who drop out of a class (as if a teacher has anything to do with it). I knew they were a shoddy for-profit machine, but I had no idea how bad. They treat instructors like crap. I'm actually glad to be out of there now that it's over. Students should stay away from this school. They're not getting an education. The classes are badly designed and instructors have no control over them. We're just there to tally up grades and follow the rubrics. It's not really education at all.
