That instructor's LinkedIn profile is atrocious and unprofessional. How could anyone take him seriously? His only comments on teaching for ITT tech were "I taught people computer stuff." As a hiring manager who has taught in both traditional and for-profit institutions, I would toss that immediately. The reality is that our faculty are half of the problem. When UOP was booming, we took anyone with a Master's degree willing to facilitate a class. Many of them viewed it as a paycheck and ignored crucial elements of their contract necessary for true student success. They awarded every student in the class full credit for work that in many cases was sub-par or not even submitted. They posted half-assed comments on five days a week to avoid being picked up by our automated attendance system and now that we are able to trim the fat, we have. I guarantee this guy was let go from both UOP and WIU for facilitation issues. Who, in this economy, would turn down a paycheck? I guarantee he was escalated through the faculty remediation process and let go...and I suspect that professionalism played a role based on his profile. We are better off without that tool.
