For the engineer raving about the 401k match, your info suggests to me that you never interviewed with the supermajors or other companies which have multiplier matches that help you bump up against HCE limits...look that up kid. Also since you seem young, how about all these employees averaging down from when CHK stock was much higher ...different view. I can't comment on your sign on bonus, but CHK is known in the industry as being a lower payer for the engineers by the dynamics of being a mid grade oil company, not big enough to afford the high level talent of the supermajors and offshore drillers, but doesn't have to pay high dollar like a mom and pop operation that could go belly up. My advice to you is get to 2-3 yrs with CHK and go work for a supermajor or someone with offshore, deep water, or international exposure ...those areas are where the best compensation will be. Great job btw if you got your stock bonus while CHK was in the teens....all about perspective. Cheers
