I am going to seek legal help on Monday. Not to sue the company, but just to make sure I'm no signing something that's going to cause me hardship. I've emailed my HR rep directly about section 8, so far no response. I'm really writing this to just give a heads up to anyone that has been let go today or in the coming days. Read the agreement before you sign it. I'm writing this in tears. I don't want to sit at home and feel useless. I'm going to miss my manager, my job, my responsibilities of running the satellite store, my coworkers, and even most of the customers.
When corporate laid me off, they told my store manager she couldn't even say she was sorry or that she was going to miss me. I found out from my coworker (a head cashier) that she (my manager) was in tears when she found out the news they were going to let me go. I would have rather my manager let me go. Someone who knew me and would have shown some real sincerity. Instead I got on speaker phone with someone from corporate who I barely knew, that let me go. This just doesn't feel right. I understand the need for a business to save money and their bottom line, but this just feels so wrong.
