Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Rob: As you state, CHK is in turn around mode and because of this stock has hit recent highs. Non-core assets are being sold, layoffs are over,

capital expenditures are down, rig count cut in half or more, drilling in only "core of core" areas. Investor confidence has turned up and is improving, contrary to what you state....and digging up dirt and smearing it around has never helped a stock price that I'm aware of. It generally causes drops (at least in the short term) by scaring away potential investors and takes time to overcome the negative information. If you're just looking for a story, be honest. But don't add that you're doing it for the good of the stock. That's just not possible.

That said, yes there was "creative accounting" done at CHK, that fact has been known for some time. Various JVs and deal structures were inventive, but not illegal by any means.

Best of luck to you.
