Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

There is roughly 100 of us here. I think around 20 of us will transfer to other stores and around 80 people will lose jobs. I heard that the cuts will not be across the board, I heard that NY, FL, CA and HI will be adding stores and that we'll be closing stores in Arizona, Kansas, Montana and Utah. We'll see what happens, the goal is to cut 2,500 folks to save hundreds of millions of dollars in payroll and tenancy charges - I do not think that anybody overcame business problems by reducing footprint, but let's see what happens, the fact is many stores are losing money and maybe this is a good thing for stores that are making money. Also, if you assume that we will be cutting only store staff (no corporate cuts), and if we assume 100 people work in each store, we'll be closing roughly 25 stores while opening some as well (Cali, Florida, etc.)... Macy's a weird place...
