Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Sabre: Managers cannot be used as a reference.

I have found out that Sabre has sent out specific instructions to all the managers of laid off employees, that they are not allowed to give a reference for the employee even if they would really like to. How do you like them apples?

I believe the only employees that will stay with travelocity or sabre are the very old timers that don't know anything else and the ones that are grossly overpaid for what they do.

Sabre is one of the absolute worst companies to work for, and for many of my friends, one of the worst companies to have been layed off by. I don't know why I still put in hard work for this company!

I was never advised of that. I informed my employees that were affected to feel free to use me for a reference if the wanted to and I would do all I could to help.

Bullsh1t - I don't believe one word of this message nonsense. Any manager with any kind of morals or backbone would ignore such BS.

This has been Sabre policy for at least a couple of years. Complete bullsh*t, but not a new development.

I have an unimpeachable source. I assure you it's true. I assume it was the upper level executives idea.

If this is at all true who's ridiculous idea was this? This will just make employees more bitter against the company and will spread to customers and prospective customers. In the long run not good for business. This is not the same company as it was five/ten years ago unfortunately.
