Impeach Art Herman - Drastic change is needed at Blairsville Campus

Morale at the Blairsville campus has sunken to an all time low. The latest vacation day policy has added insult to repeated injuries suffered by the Blairsville staff. Weak leadership and managements total lack of respect for staff and students have had disastrous results. Mary U made a comment in the past that she was "angry enough to kill" one of her staff members yet she has no qualms with dismissing one of her staff for an action very similar to that of Queen Mary herself. The "unspoken" directive to get students to graduate no matter what the cost has resulted in instructors feeling compelled to stretch attendance policies, pass substandard comps in shop and in certain cases providing a bit too much help in test taking. The overturn of instructor disciplinary actions has resulted in a student population that is aware that they have the upper hand. In the past, WyoTech was operated with high standards and integrity. Art Herman has had an incredible demotivating impact on every department in the Blairsville campus. Steve Whitson had a saying "Do not come to me with a problem without having several solutions already in mind." More on this tomorrow... what changes would my fellow employees like to see?

At Wyotech the grading is rigged in such a way that a student can score 39% on tests and still pass. The comps are weighted and so is the "homework". You are "encouraged" to give full credit to a half-assed comp and homework. I've witnessed a coordinator tell an entire class that all they had to do to pass was sit there and "do SOMETHING" and that in order to fail they'd have to "try NOT to pass". Talk about inspirational… That's why the students that are actually aware of what's going on are so pissed when the idiot next to them graduates with the same degree as they do. If they only know that all someone needs to do to pass is remain conscious- hey wait- they don't even need to do that.

This seems to be one of those stories that no one will come out against, either publicly or privately. Most students won't complain if the curriculum is made easier. And most teachers aren't willing to rock the boat. Has anyone written any emails that voice concerns about this, something that can be documented and used as evidence?

I know I've told several of my students to hire attorneys and Sue CCI/Wyo tech for providing a subpar education. I also tell them that we must pass as many as possible or its our ass out the door. Art supports the unspoken directive but always had someone else do his dirty work.....there's a word for that.....

I know firsthand “The "unspoken" directive to get students to graduate no matter what the cost has resulted in instructors feeling compelled to stretch attendance policies” was brought to the attention of Bob Bosic over a year ago. He (and his team) should be held accountable for this miscarriage of responsibility. Stock holders beware, the stench of this rotting corps starts at the top.
