Thread regarding Follett layoffs

When are the next layoffs?

I'm fed up. I'm ready for it to be my turn. Sorry for those that are sad for being laid off. Some of us are being tortured daily and need to be set loose for our own sanity!

big girl pants implies personal responsibility

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”

My post was to big girl pants and others slamming 7442. Many of us ARE job hunting, but it takes time. In my 20 some years at Follett. I have never seen morale so low and anger so high. Through good times and bad, I never before felt that upper management felt total disrespect for their employees. It is sad, but I have no desire to stay at a company with such poor values and will leave when I get an opportunity.

Wow. It's gotten a little nasty here. This is the kind of attitude that is hard to deal with. The building may be nice, but that doesn't mean the treatment is. Like it or not, there are problems. Talking nasty to people doesn't change that.

7525, you're a self-indulgent moron. Someone has plans that include me. Perhaps Follett, perhaps not Follett. Perhaps, I never worked for Follett. It is certain, however, you're a defensive fool and it is likely you're a Follett tool.

7442 ~ I would not be so smug if I were you. Future plans probably don't include you.

Hate much? Slam big girls, mock Asian accent, and you're writing incoherently. Perhaps you should check out some mental health benefits. You've got some issues at work.

No significant number of layoffs until after rush when the numbers come in again. Then it will be a blood bath

Thanks. Apparently an ignorant, discriminating, lying and manipulative new manager responded.

7441- That was harsh. Let's take a step back and examine what you've said. If you hope you're laid off, look elsewhere for work.

You're assuming the writer is not looking elsewhere for work. With the hours demanded by Follett, it is difficult to interview. For certain, it isn't impossible, but it is hard. You're ignoring the impact of severance. If the writer has been working for the company for 25 years or more, they're likely to collect .5 years pay as severance, if they're laid off. That buys some essential time to heal and it buys some essential time to find new work. Only those who've been laid off are entitled to severance and then they are subject to a non-disclosure agreement. By simply resigning without new work, the writer forfeits any claim to severance.

A company is a collective of individual skills that are pooled to create a product. Follett is sick. One skill set is being used to attack other skill sets. The product is not near equal to the sum of its parts. It is a sick, sick company

Please do everyone a favor and quit. If you feel you're being treated poorly, look elsewhere for work.
