Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Turning in notice tomorrow

Chesapeake energy is a place I use to love but it's so different now. With that said I accepted an offer Friday and will be giving notice tomorrow. From my understanding they don't wa t amyl e working two week post notice which is fine by me. In my opinion this company will be sold and it's time for me to jump ship.

Bad advice 7617! If you put in a two week notice CHK will have to pay the two weeks even if they walk you out. If you quit without notice, they have no obligation to pay.

If you provide a two weeks notice, then they fire you immediately and escort you out in most cases. It's not worth not having a paycheck for two weeks, and isn't really a good reputation builder for the company. Your best bet is to quit on a Monday after payday over the telephone or by email and turn in your IT equipment for servicing the Friday before. Some one high and mighty can probably mouth off about how good the company is but if you want a steady paycheck this is the route recommended. As an alternative save up the PTO and take a week or two weeks to work at your new job and double dip. CHK very much has a my way or the highway approach while the competitors are welcoming with open arms. Quitting by phone or email is the best way unless you want to be seen getting escorted out by security, granted I am the type of person that would rather give a two weeks notice, don't do it unless you want to be without a paycheck, the risk isn't worth it for most people pay wise. Hope that helps. In summary , NO two weeks notice, quit on a Monday after payday, and plan on starting new job same day if possible or during PTO.

As a general question, will they let you provide a 2 week notice? This is what most employees do as a professional and courteous gesture. This helps both the employee and companies involved. I can't imagine a company would cite as a reason that they are concerned with one passing on sensitive information. I can't imagine a company being so cruel and insensitive to show you the door.

When will upper management acknowledge the mass exodus from Angela Boulware's group? Answer: they don't care. It's a shame so many talented folks are leaving that group to work for another company. Great job Bree and Kirk.
