Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Here’s the deal….

I have a pretty long history in education. Many of those years were at UOP. I’ve earned 2 degrees from UOP and have been properly compensated for those degrees. The reality is most businesses don’t care what kind of degree you have but that you have a degree AND experience. There are some businesses who have learned that degrees in certain specialization (accounting, finance, HR, etc) from some universities/colleges are no good. I work for a state university now and their business practices put UOP to shame. You want to talk about unethical business decisions, poor spending habits, no focus on student learning or success, faculty doing whatever they want whenever they want, NO raises (nothing, nada, zilch). All state universities do is take the governments money and spend it on whatever they want. Oh wait that’s the same thing for-profit universities do. The reason why nobody can find a job is because they aren’t getting degrees where the needs are. It isn’t just UOP grads that aren’t getting jobs. NOBODY is getting jobs. Except for me of course because I have the DEGREES and EXPERIENCE to back it up. It’s the same old problem just a newer version. People making excuses because they didn’t get what they wanted from their degree. Well, maybe you should have looked at what the work force needs and then got a degree in an area where there is a need. Instead, you went to college, got a degree in basket weaving, and now you cry about not having a job. BOO HOO. Do your damn research next time.
