For anyone who has obtained a severance. How long after being laid off did it take?

Mine showed up on the paycheck that arrived 3 days after I was laid off under a line item of "Severance".
I was told it would be in my final pay check along with my vacation that was earned
Severance pay will take longer than the above. My pink slip meeting was over in 10 minutes. No negotiation on what you are offered (let's face it, I wasn't in a strong bargaining position).
should be pretty quick. Once they agree it, from what I have seen previously, they'll push it through on the next pay run. They need to show the real reduction in the payroll & it's in their interests to get the people and costs out the door ASAP as they will be able to report back on progress to Houston who will, in turn report to the shareholders. They will know exactly how much each severance will cost days before you know it's happening - so they'll simply send the figure to payroll. If you ask in your meeting, they'll probably be able to tell you.
