Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Avoid and be very careful

Watch out. One, they don't pay well for what they want done. Actually they pay the absolute lowest per course I have ever experienced as on line faculty member and they are very demanding, want some pretty intense time commitments but are only going to pay for 7 hours a week.

I had a supervisor that hardly told me anything as if I was supposed to know what to do my first course with them, or more common they send vague instructions, you follow them exactly, and they expect you to read between the lines, but then hold it against you. It's kind of a two-bit school obviously from the complaints all over the internet - read them yourself, but a bad experience for a faculty member and when only 1/2 students are happy with going there there's a serious issue.

I know people need jobs but if you can, look somewhere else, avoid Corinthian.

Your experience is very common, sadly. Nobody with any management skills would work in management at CCi. They end up with the dregs who can't manage their own trips to the restroom, much less manage qualified faculty. They don't recognize that the online adjuncts are for the most part very qualified and most teach at real schools with real academic and ethical standards, both of which are sadly lacking throughout CCi.

"Do it" is vague? No wonder you're former.

Hey Former anyone who works for CCI/Everest/Heald/Wyotech knows exactly what you are talking about. They have so many Double Standards it's both ridiculous and frustrating. Whether intentional or not some areas seem gray yet they encourage you to take ownership and initiative which leaves them plenty of room to wriggle out of tight spots they get into by blaming the employee. There are so many changes within this company that it's very difficult to keep up with them. When a question does arise, trying to track down a supervisor or someone that actually knows the answer can be very unproductive given the time it takes to hear back from them, if ever. Believe me, we know EXACTLY what you are talking about.
