Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Don't blame the past, do something for the present

Leadership quit blaming the previous employees, show some character. They are all gone and for the past 1.5 years the results are all yours.

The only thing that matters is your results for the past 1.5 years are the worst, way worse than any year in the past 10 years. 4 months until the peak selling season of the year. You could learn a few things from TC and team.

Newsflash: there have been many issues with the latest BlueBook that has gone out. Follett is only offering prices on about 35,000 titles compared to 85,000 - 125,000 of other wholesalers. And the prices they are offering for books is a fraction of what the offered just 6 weeks ago. Suppliers are jumping ship.... my guess is after this buyback period, many Follett bookstores will want to do likewise.

You'd better pray POS works because right now I hear it's a disaster.

New apps, no exp, multiple diff POS sys, shrink exposure and the blame will be on the store managers, right?

I heard that POS is ML's project that had a commitment to the date with the board, along with moving all commerce to new websphere. They didn't meet that commitment so now we get one POS to ring up some sales, and another POS (WinDSS) to ring up rentals. I am scared about rush too, no employees to help work through the in store issues. I pray it works.

We're terrified that we're going to roll out a new POS a month before rush. It admittedly has limited capabilities and that sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. While we in the store agree the new POS is a move in the right direction, WHY must new things happen so close to school opening? WHY?? Why is it not being rolled out in June, after school, for us to experiment with all (slow) summer?

The results are what they are. We at store level are all working our butts off to make up for the sheer lack of labor hours we have in the store while things go undone for two or three days at a time...things that were done on a daily basis. It's a giant ball of stress for everyone as we all try to pack more into our daily activities.

Time for a new flash sale, isn't it?
