Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Yay! More Kmart/Sears people coming aboard!

Soon, we'll be as successful as these mighty

retail entities! All hail, Fmart!

But seriously, WTF??

The committee must not be engaged is all I can make of this. They purchased X2 and there was growth there. Change for companies has been required due to many externals factors. So if you had growth in a new product why wouldn't you hire people from that area; academia. Instead a chain store that's failed made a slight comeback to fail again. I'm not saying these people were responsible or they are not educated, but wouldn't be better to hire people with education and have the background in the area that the deals with core business which is education. Or is it Mini K-Marts on campuses, let's see the major population on campuses are not working and just trying to make ends meet, mini stores? The focus should have been geared toward academia not chain store mentality, I think it's too late now. (By the way X2 was purchased prior to new leadership changes).

If you consider working with someone for years at Follett, that did a good job, that was qualified, that you may have liked, well then yes there was cronyism if that is your definition of cronyism. Or maybe your definition is skewed? If on the other hand it was a family member that was given a job I think that maybe they had a right, I think? What is happening now does not have precedent, not at this rate, not here or any other major company that I've ever heard of. Only political jobs like in Alsip or some other cities in around Chicago can I compare this to. Scandalous is the precedent outcome of those decisions.

You don't know what you are talking about. Senior staff were all from different companies and had no history together. Currect leadership all worked together at kfart.

There's been cronyism at Follett for decades. It's not a new thing.

Amazing how they keep hiring VP at these salaries when their vendors are considering if they should be concerned about being timely paid after next Rush numbers come in.

Amazon has made Follett about as relevant as Kmart and Sears are today. These clowns must be uniquely qualified to re-arrange the chairs on the Titanic.

Progressive scope? Track record should be what should be taken in account and it doesn't appear those companies are doing well. Aren't all these folks just leaving the Titanic only to sinking ship and it appears maybe they just need to boost their retirement funds a bit and found some folks to listen to their dog and pony show.

NEWVP has been named Vice President, General Merchandise Manager……..his career's progressive scope spanned other well-known brands such as RadioShack, Sears Holding Corporation / Kmart…..enough said!

Cronyism is partiality to long-standing friends, especially by appointing them to positions of authority
