Thread regarding Follett layoffs

To All

I'm not on here too much, but as a current employee that knows all the shenanigans that go on at this company, I feel compelled to say that you all should remember that no matter what you post here - management really doesn't care. It's not going to affect what they do, etc. They just don't care. Period.

Yet this thread got 500 views, that's healthy - that's probably more than the total number of people who manage to read the first paragraph of a typical corporate wide memo.

That is the sad thing. I would have done anything to make Follett successful and I used to know lots of employees who thought the same thing. Dedication, commitment, pride in your work.....all things to work for. Glad I was laid off in March. Sad the Follett family checked out of management....they are the ones who will pay the price when this is all over in less than two years. Worthless company with debt.

Yes, Energy drinks to drive sales. A Kfart brilliant sales driver. And track sales by the hour! That will bolster the bottom line! Didn’t these people ever take any management classes? A trained monkey could do better than this! Moving people with 30+ years with the company from RG to the ADC then laying them off a week later. Normal people might see that as cruel but at Follett, that’s brilliant management skills. Documented violations of the code of conduct get ignored by senior management and the board but the rank and file would be fired for the same conduct. The family must be proud! Remember, laying off people and spending on technology really fires up Wall Street. Stock value goes up even as the bottom line shrinks.

that's the surprising thing; follett enjoyed the loyalty of a lot of people. Even though it operated cheap, the employees loved their schools, their jobs and their colleagues. Employees wanted to win against Amazon and win against BN.

That's all gone now. Those who are left are over worked zombies. There is no financial reward for performance. There is no career path. If you stay long enough you're at risk for termination because they can pay someone less than you to do your job.

It is mean. Management is mean. Mean is not effective or good.

After 10 years, I'm out in June. I've had it with the crazy. The RM's and RVP's are all concerned about the wrong things. Phone cases. Energy drinks. It's ridiculous.

Actually I heard this site pisses off ML and others. But you are right they don't care.....but honestly very few of the employees care anymore either. There is only one direction for this company and that is down. This company is a textbook example/case study of how to run a company into the ground in two years. How to alienate all your once loyal employees and replace many with employees from one of the worst retailers around sears/kfart. How to carry forward with the initiatives of previous management while simultaneously blaming them for the state of the company.

If they cared, we wouldn't be out here.
