So... 100% of what happened today??
John,
they may be protect management's buddies/old old boys in your org.
Anonymous 123335.Great commentary on what is absolutely, positively never going to happen.We are currently adding tiers of bureaucracy to my organization. We now have supervisors reporting to susupervisors.Managers reporting to other managers. Sometimes with as few as two subordinates reporting to them.We even have a director that has three people in his entire organization. I have never seen an organization this top heavy. I guess I'll just keep filling out my TPS reports (in triplicate) until I can remedy the situation.
Not going to happen. Don't worry be happy.
Cut the fat supply chain director, the frowning manufacturing director, and the operations "program" directors who play solitaire all day. Cut the brown-nosing, skirt-hiking debutantes who leach themselves to ugly older men in hopes of advancement. Cut the ego-overloaded engineers with pictures of themselves on their home refrigerators. Cut the dumb-struck PMs with that stupid look that says, "My CPI is bad, but I don't know why." Cut the finance managers that pretend to know finance, or who pretend to know why CPI is so bad. Cut the lurking security staff, stalking the hallway in their 5.11 pants and tasers, hoping to go "Die Hard" on someone. Cut the executive staff with their Lincoln town cars, Cadillac Escalades, and bad hair cuts. Cut 'em all.
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
All these layoff rounds have been like pulling a "band-aid" off a skint knee in slow-motion. They milk the layoffs just for training the leftovers to do some particular function and then give them time to re-train the new-new-people that move into those vacated job vacancies.
If they fired the right "managers" and "supervisors" they might save enough money to keep the correct people in place to be able to handle all the current contracts and then some.
Rumor, layoff may have been bumped to 6/23 to include some employees returning from sick leave and additional departments. Total head count affected will be no more that 150 for this round, as many as two more rounds possible before end of August. Forecasted head count will be Less than 45% of the 2012 head count.
if past performance is any indicator, anyone who has been a valuable contributor, hard worker, intelligent person, and/or spoken up against management will be let go.
on the other hand, if you're a slacker from a fake for-profit school, kiss your bosses posterior, and scurry like cockroaches from light when someone tries to assign you to a task, odds are you're safe.
Anyone know what departments? Ops, eng or mngmnt?
Firm date of 6/19
They are laying off. They may be hiring one and two here and there but will be laying off as many as 150+ & and another layoff end of July and August. By thy time they are done l-3 head count will be less than 45% of what it was before the first layoff
Not next week but next month
What departments are hiring?
Everything is ok, they are hiring people.
