At some point you have to ask yourself what your integrity is worth, what value do you put on your soul, do you have a conscience? If you have a conscience and have become honest with yourself, you will realize that admissions reps are pawns recruited to do the dirty work and sell dreams that don't exist. This is a crooked filthy company, that dupes people into signing up for something that is a sham, if you're an admissions rep, you are at ground zero in this mess, a minion doing the dirty work of people who could care less about anybody but themselves and whatever metrics they're trying to reach. One thing I don't get is - If we can convince people to believe in themselves and take a chance to better themselves, what holds us back form doing the same for ourselves. Now I know some of you still think we are doing these people a favor and helping them. I call bullshit on that - you're living in denial, the evidence is right in front of you, so fing thick it is chocking you as you dupe another victim in to signing their life away. As for me, I'm fing out of this place, I guess my conscience caught up with me, because I just can't be a part of this crooked company anymore. I know God will provide as he always has and a new door will open. I will find a job I can be proud of and one that I can actually do some good in. To my fellow admissions reps - if your feeling that knot in your stomach and can't stay, but can't leave. My advice is leave, take your own best advice, believe in yourself and find something you can be proud to do. If you're an admissions rep and still think you're doing wonderful work, and that you're really helping these people - wake up to reality, either you are in to much fear to find something better, or you are blind.

This is a complicated question. Working for CCI is the first time in my life I've had health insurance, since before that I was an adjunct and taught 6-7 classes at 3-4 schools to make ends meet. It's easy from the outside to be idealistic, and say yes, but being able to pay the bills is a draw. That's how they keep us, of course.

That said, I've already lined up other work for the fall term, and do plan to jump ship while I still can.

I think everyone is making a way bigger deal out of the company's name than necessary. Most folks, even in academia, have no idea what's going in, news media coverage or not. And other for profit schools DO want us. We already understand the corporate culture. I laugh at people who think this on a resume is so bad nobody will ever work again. It's simply not true.

20975: I've been through a few as well, and I have to disagree with you to a point. Typically the new owner will leave the staff in place for a short time. management will usually be replaced with their own people who know the "XYZ Way" that they will move up into the positions. Centralized processes (such as our SFS/Socle and most CSC functions) will be taken over by the new company, who will expand those departments as needed in their own locations. Whether administrative and academic staff go depends on a lot of factors. I would say with CCi (considering our regulatory issues), instructors are fairly safe. Admissions and Placement will probably be replaced, and possibly most/all of Student Finance. None of this will happen overnight.

I have to laugh at all these nay sayers. Yeah, a new company will come in and fire all present employees. Then they have no administration, no instructors and no recruiters. RIGHT! The last thing a new owner would do is disrupt the students that are there. I've been through 3 buy outs and all were seamless. Over time they will evaluate the employees they have and make adjustments as needed. To answer the original question, I would if it came down to it. If I wasn't happy I would continue to look for better employment. But you need to pay the bills while you search.

Sorry to break it to you, but as soon as you all are gone (and that is a certainty, whether new buyer or impending layoff due to cash issues), you have to explain to a prospective employer what your part was at a business the govt. shut down. And to all you admissions folks making over 55k....look around at the economy and industry. the industry has been retracting, not expanding. And all of you are now in competition with each other for your new jobs. NO BUYER will keep staff from a business the govt. shut down. Welcome to reality.
