Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

New L.A. Times Article

An article in this morning's L.A. Times makes CCi look even worse than previous articles do. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-corinthian-colleges-20140716-story.html

I wasn't fired and I told the truth when asked.

I worked there for over 14 years as a teacher and I believed the dream that we were giving people opportunities. I still believe there were students in my class that went on to great things. It makes me very sad to see a company take advantage of these people. Somewhere the company lost sight of it's clients and as a result their downfall is really a good thing.

This article was BS - these FIRED - ex-employees aren't going to say anything but negatives, they were FIRED - get it? I worked with one of the guys that was interviewed and all he said was lies. I remember the situation well, and he left the truth completely out of his sentance. Seriously, they can say anything they want and the reporter just puts it in print and people believe it to be true - get real! Like any fired ex employee is going to fess up to the real reason they are not working for CCi anymore!

21052, the value of an Everest diploma is already zero. It cannot diminish further.

I agree with everything in the article. CCI was a scam from day one. CCI will become a case study in the negative effects of deregulation and the worst case scenario for what happens when greedy pricks are allowed to get into education. However, you've got to admit, many of our students are not innocent in this. We've got some profoundly dishonest, deluded students. I'm not talking about the stupid ones, I'm talking about the students who took the money and never intended on passing classes. CCI management and a good number of the "students" they recruited should all be in prison together.

21044: yes, there will be meaningful impact. Every day, with every new story, the value of any form of education received at a Corinthian school will be a little diminished. Which will make it that little bit harder for graduates to get interviews, let alone jobs.

The truth hurts. The more former employees who come forward and tell their stories, the worse the pain will be. However, since CCI is essentially going away now, will there be any meaningful impact?

Ouch, this article says it all. Everything we thought was happening but now it is listed in black and white.

Today we're being told, "It's business as usual."

Article provides a good timeline of what occurred and when. Going to assume most staff now have learned what their senior management was doing to create the facade of a successful company.

Sad, yes. But which part isn't true? Still most grads are working, they only use unhappy examples

Is that really us they're taking about, Jack is asking right now . . . Yes, Jack. That appears to be us.

Now we know why Jack sent the e-mail: "The media are so harsh on us..."
