Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Everest college phoenix is a joke

We still cannot enroll new students. We still have full staff coming in everyday. All we do is sit in LIVEVOX and waste out time. Management still maintains that we will start enrolling any day now. Carmella is visiting our site in 2 weeks. Can you say massive layoffs?

Yep ECP is a joke especially with current management in place!!!! Especially the short mean angry Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde APD in the MA program. Integrity problems there...so it might be a good thing with the management problems to shut the doors. HLC might know something you guys don't that's why they stopped ECP from enrolling.

Keep in mind...who ever is looking to buy these schools, and yes the OPEID's are what buyers are looking to buy in the big picture. But, the new owner is also going to be taking on the huge risk associated with thie existing OPEID like that of the current/future default rates on these student loans. They would have to be a strong player that can guarantee what they implement can withstand the measures...whether it be another for-profit or non-profit. Totally agree that if any portion of this corporation is going to be sold it will be ECP and Heald. Did you know that CCi put 2 of their Miami campuses up for sale last September and they never sold...what makes one think the whole company will sell in 6 months?

21225- HLC's issue is not with ECP. It is 100% with Cci and concerns that it will get heat from the DOE if it does not appear to be on top of things. The whole reason for the probation, show-cause back in 2009-11 was issues relating to governance and autonomy from CCi. Those issues were resolved and in 2013 ECP was given 10 years reaccreditation. Dr. Johnson has an excellent relationship with HLC. My educated guess is that HLC wants to see either a disclosure document that would minimize risk for the student if things go south) or more likely, evidence of a new owner that looks different than Cci. A non-profit buyer would be ideal. As bad as it looks right now, OEPID's with 10-year accreditation approvals, Online programs supported by real campus's are not easy to find, so I am completely confident ECP will be sold soon.

Just got out of an online ECP town hall here are the highlights.

  1. No more recruiting for the July start, late start is only going to be available if a student is in enrolled status.

  2. We can interview and complete applications for the august mini, but we cannot sign enrollment agreements.

  3. The HLC has requested extensive documentation from us, similar to what the DOE wanted we plan on submitting them by July 25 (could our accreditation get put on probation)

  4. 1/3 of the ECP online center in Tempe is now going to service EUO and ECP at the same time (sounds shady) their main focus will be enrolling for EUO.

When will they start enrolling again? Anytime soon? At all?

Walter, according to an earlier post on this thread, accreditation group stopped enrollment. Will that be an issue? Seems like a big problem to me.

21235, they are buing OEPID's and (for ECP) regional accreditation which has already approved ECP for branching and all online programs. That takes years and millions. That being said, ECP will have to change their name after this and if they massively miss the July start they will not have the cash-flow to keep going without significant cost reductions. I would expect ECP to be sold in the next 30 days at mere pennies for what it could have gotten about 6 months ago.

Why isn't management telling anyone about enrollment? Are they afraid potential buyers or the media will find out?

Dies anyone know if/when they will start enrolling again? Maybe they will have to start the term again? They gave 10 for add/drop and late start. They could never expect students who barely get one week's worth of work to get done to double up.

So, what is CCI selling exactly? They don't own buildings. Assets in buildings can't be worth bikinis. The brand is kaput. So they are selling the student population? I guess I don't understand.

As we have been told it's both ground and online. Our accreditor the higher learning commission sent a letter stoping enrollment a because they don't like the disclosure that students have to sign to enroll.
