Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

CCI selling to a non profit.

I'm a former employee, one that had been laid off in Feb, I just interviewed for a field rep position at the santa ana campus. They told me that CCI is being bought by a nonprofit school. The announcement will be made in 2 months. Most everyone will keep their jobs. So CCI is out but most every employee will stay. Please stop the doomsday theory in here. The axe will only hit the campus that have already announced closings.

21494...to clarify, when you say "Santa Ana" I think you mean the CSC, right? Original poster was talking about the Santa Ana campus which is a school.

Regardless, both of your posts just contain theories. We will not know who a buyer is until the deal is done. That's normal. Until then, all we have are guesses and rumors. And I think employees are tired of talking about rumors. We've accepted that we won't know until the sale is final.

the original poster is correct-- that is the information that Santa Ana has told to schools, that a non-profit is coming in and buying all 85 schools. Whether the deal goes through or not, who knows? Anything could happen to ruin the deal in the next few weeks. But that exact info from the original poster has been told to some schools by Santa Ana. I am surprised no one else has written about it here-- it's out there.

Yes. We all still believe our jobs will be saved. Except those f us who are adjuncts and left to flail in the wind without a word . . .adjuncts without students indicates low enrollment. Low enrollment very bad for colleges for sale. Just sayin'.

Nothing is sold yet, some of the equipment has value, current students have value, school OPEID's meeting 90/10 have value, just to name a few areas. An informed group could turn profits with the right leadership and action plan. I don't believe anyone wants the Everest name or any association with CCI, but for the right price there could be value.

What are they selling? They own no buildings, they have no students, and their accreditation is about to be put on probation (according to

A post from yesterday.) what's left to sell? Massive debt?

If you were laid off, why wouldn't they just hire you back? Why interview?

Insider information given to a person interviewing...sounds legit!

Why would the Santa Ana campus hire ANYONE? One of the most common pracices in cash-poor companies (that would be CCI....)is to not replace open positions. "Field Rep" = Account representative (in Career Services), right? Seems to me that such a position qualifies as "nice to have" rather than "need to have" at this point. At our campus the AR position saw high turn-over. When the position was vacant, others in CS filled the void in combination with well-connected faculty members in order to keep placements rolling. One has to question the validity of the original post......possibly a troll/pot-stirrer

They might say that to get people in the door. They can't guarantee anyone a new job if they sell.

Why would they tell that to an interviewee but not employees? Probably are waiting to see if anyone posts leaked info to this site - to know whether to hire them or not

Sounds like they tried to sell you on a bunch of bs. If the buyer is set, it would be announced and not put on the down low for 2 months, then put out there. I'm sure the buyer would love having cci run what's left further into the ground. You need to use some logic. There is also no way a buyer that would be announced in 2 months, if true, would also guarantee staff remains. For your sake, hope I'm wrong but highly doubt I am.

A for profit might keep employees until it is up and running. Then it will get employees with a non profit mentality.
