Investigate Online Re-Entry

The first place the DOE and this monitor should look for practices that are unethical and out of compliance is a Tampa Online re-entry. Registering students that aren't cleared, changing classes around without add/drop forms, pulling students out of classes before attendance posts so they don't flip to active because they never should have been registered in the first place, then putting them back into class after attendance posts to give them more time to possibly become a start...they use students as pawns in a numbers game. That department is a joke. They brag about their start numbers, but more than half of the spring term re-entry "starts" didn't even finish the term.

The post from 21889 HAS to be a troll, right? That can't be from an actual student. Right?!?! Please tell me the trolls and trannies are joking with us.

21889 - what is your point? You don't go to class and you want what investigated? It's federal financial aid policy to drop students if they miss 14 consecutive days, not Everest policy. Here's a question: why throw your education away by not bothering to go to class? You have no idea what excuses I have heard. It's insane! Excuse. Excuse. Excuse. The government loaned you a lot if money to get an education and you just stop going. And you are complaining about that? And want some type of investigation? I worked full time and put myself through school full time. I never missed a class or an exam or an assignment deadline. And the casualness with which students take their education and theory they have been given burns my butt. We are about to tank, no thanks to students like you who complain because they don't show up and then butch they had to appeal to get back in. You're an adult right? Take some responsibility! Stop bitching. Quite frankly, nobody on this board feels bad that because you chose to ignore your education, you had to appeal to get more $. I suggest you get in there and do your best and take some pride. And stop complaining about what is YOUR fault!!!

I was dropped after not finishing the last two weeks. I had to appeal and I am back in class for this term.

I had students get dropped early on, but not after mid-May.

They should investigate attendance practices at ECPO. I thought it was a federal financial aid rule to drop inactive students after 2 or 3 weeks. But, I might be wrong. Either way, Everest has an attendance policy in place. That was not enforced last term. I had student who never attended and were still on my roster in week 12. It sucked to try to do outreach on students who quit attending 6 weeks plus beforehand. But, I'm not sure it was legal or ethical to keep them in grade books.

This problem will fix itself. If the re-entry starts don't finish, then the next start will be a problem, or in time SAP will be an issue.
