Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Whole Foods is Expanding

We are opening stores and we are expanding our business. Look at our stock price and you'll figure out that we are kicking butt in the market place and that there will be no layoffs at Whole Foods. Now, I am not saying that we will not close a store or two, if leases are not right or if the store is under-preforming we might do something like that but overall Whole Foods is not focusing on redundancies and layoffs right now. We may acquire some of our competitors in future and that might make things interesting, let's say if we have similar HR departments, or if there is overlap in IT or Finance, that might result in some layoffs but for now I just do not see WF laying off anyone in short to medium term. Also, I would encourage you to look into a career with Whole Foods, we have great benefits, we value work/life balance and we are a family oriented company.

So much for this bullshit....look what came to pass. And right before holidays too; NOT smart.

Sounds like someone from a regional team weighing in, and the horseshit STINKS.

This company has never actually valued employee (because let's face it, what "team" are we a member of?) happiness, and this is just the natural evolution of that.

Get f***ed, Mr "Whole Foods is a family oriented company." Tell that to every person I've seen have to bring all their kids to early morning store meetings because they can't get childcare that early in the day.

My store laid off 5 people. Our region has opened store after store that have been deemed unprofitable. These people were let go with no warning. And then today, buyers, supervisors, and associate store team leaders all have to reapply for their jobs or take a severance and are not guaranteed anything if they decide to step down and stay with the company. "We support team member excellence and happiness" is a core value. What a joke. You must work in regional as you are still guaranteed a job and layoffs will never have an effect on you.

Isn't it funny ? Get rid of your higher paid employees and fill those jobs with lesser paid employees. Creates an instant burst to the P&L. UPS got sued and lost for the very same thing. I always thought Whole Foods was one of the good companies, but boy was I wrong! Shame on them.

Really? Today it happened. Supervisors must re-apply for their jobs or take severence package and have one week to decide. Supervisors recently promoted are screwed because they are being told there are no jobs below supervisor. So years of struggling to do a good job and get promoted are wasted and they can't even go back. So this is a LAYOFF. How mismanaged can you be. Promote a good worker to supervisor and then pull the rug out and not even let them have a lessor job!!!!!! What hypocrites. Never go there again.

Whole Foods' marketing is a front for an anti-union store that profits from hype.........http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/22/whole-foods-prices_n_5862142.html
