Was CCi Fraudulently Calculating Award Packages?

Does anyone know if CCi was calculating in room and board for students when they did not need room and board? If so, is this illegal?

I work in the financial aid department for heald. We aren't allow to add the total book expense, if we do, it wouldn't b enough to cover tuition, fees n books. Our dear mmanagement says it's student responsibility to get their books. But admissions recruits from the shelters n welfare department.

@22492 - Please explain GAP funding so that we better understand then. If what you say is true, then Title IV funds were not used totally toward tuition if used as a stipend to the student. Is that not correct? In part the students Title IV funds assist the student in paying back the CCI backed Genesis loan since they are required to make a payment from those funds or be dismissed. Is that not also correct?

Genesis was never used for an application towards a living expense. It was strictly for Gap financing and previous balances, generating no student stipends. Know the facts, Sir.

Money over and above tuition costs has to be requested by the student but even still, without going into the many facets of the awarding process, there may be reasons they are ineligible to receive living expense assistance. Students who request living expense from a Genesis loan are required to make payments on that loan while attending. If the payment is unable to be made they are threatened with dismissal. In essence, students are making payments by borrowing their payment money in order to stay in school. Consequently this reduces the amount they actually receive for their use for food and rent. Whether legal or ethical CCI apparently doesn't care.

22233, so do students get the money or does the school keep it? (Referring to room and board $ only.)

This question has also been brought up multiple times in the media from students complaining about their school and that they included room and board in their package. Here is the FA process pretty much anywhere you go to school that accepts title IV. Student fills out a FAFSA with the DOE and answers questions about living on or off campus. Room and board and other educational expenses must be factored in when determining a needs analysis in relation to the overall cost of an education. (whether the student lives on or off campus) To determine someones "financial needs" it costs money for simple existence such as housing, food, transportation etc. Then adding tuition, books and fees on top of that when deciding to return to school. The DOE is the one that determines the financial need of the student based on this information and awards pell grant based on said needs

Room and board? CCI runs shopping-center schools. No dorms.

Camden- The students must approve of all financial aid, and then there is the period that the student can reject any or all financial aid, even if they would owe the school. From what I have seen, I have no reason to believe that an award is not proper, but I'm not in the finance department. If CCi gets caught not administering the title IV funds properly, there will be more than the current heightened monitoring.
