Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

The REAL reason why few have the guts to leave such a dirty company like CCI

Is that NO other company will pay them what CCI pays them. CCI enrollment reps that have been at CCI for a while make north of $60k a year. To restart anywhere else is to take a $20k+ shave, immediately. WHY? Because the industry literally has more than 100 applicants for every opening. Many of CCI's reps came from the mortgage industry, pre 2007 (are we seeing a pattern?) CCI enrollment reps are glorified telemarketers that simply lack real marketable skills outside of phone solicitation and herd mentality to "sell the hot thing." The industry as a whole is retracting, not growing. The fact that CCI IS shutting down and people STILL hold out impossible hope of being saved by a new buyer simply confirms everything I just stated. The main thing to understand is you WON'T make what you did at CCI at ANY new job. NO new buyer (IF there is one) is going to keep sales reps from a company the government shut down. What the remaining employees at CCI need to do is realize this and understand they are starting over, wherever they go and make the best of it. Jobs are out there, but the days of making 60k telemarketing are over.

So why don't you leave Anonymous22697 (IT)? Are you a glutton for punishment? Do you enjoy being treated like a mushroom: kept in the dark, and fed shit?

I would make about 10K more if I left. The others that have left in my area of expertise have received 10k-15k more

22590-the underpaid have already been cut. Everest cut adjuncts and loaded up FT instructors. In general, adjuncts are the least paid employees at a school. Which means they will have to move up the next wrung of low hanging fruit. You are right. Mid and high level management are the last to go (but are probably scrambling like hell to look busy to save their jobs.) And Jack gets to turn the light off after everyone is gone. Hell, he probably has a big bonus in his contract if he makes these sales successfully. And then he's off to his next job, which he has probably already lined up. It's too bad people don't se what's going on. We are all going to be fighting for the same frappy jobs in 6 months or less. I'm not waiting. I have already lined up some choices. But I have been knocking on doors and finding jobs the hard way. They aren't all on the job boards.

There's some truth to the OP. I'm probably the number one rep at my campus, and I've been trying to find another job for over three months. I've had a couple of offers, but considered the salary laughable. Now I may be in the even worse position of looking while unemployed. Sucks.

I've suggested it before: The underpaid are the first to go.
