Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Just sayin' . . . I was pissed when I was riffed in February

but quickly was hired into the clinical education department at well known, well respected private university. For those of you who are nervous or don't know what to do - just start looking, there are many great opportunities in higher education at repectable colleges and universities. Figure out what you enjoy doing and what your transferrable skills are and you too may find a new job with good pay, great people, and much better benefits.

Thanks for sharing your story! As soon as they announced this mess, I started looking and applying the next day. Even when I was told I would have classes to teach this term, I kept looking. Almost 2 weeks into this term and my classes were empty. I still haven't been told, but I'm clearly out of a job, as are many other adjuncts, according to some posts on this board. I just found out I made the cut for a job that closed today. I hope to hear next week. I also have heard back from 3 other places. But, none of these were listed on job boards. I knocked on doors, learned names and made calls and sent out ails. Until I get a firm offer, I will continue to do so. I was determined to get a head start from everyone else. There are already a significant number of adjuncts out of jobs, due to low and frozen enrollment. And I'm glad it turned out the way it did. I don't want to be stuck vying for jobs with 12,000 colleagues. I suggest if you want to get ahead of it, you might also start looking. If you want to wait, wait. But adjuncts are out if a job because of very low enrollment. This company cannot run a full ship without the level of students they had last term. It just can't. And if they can't get $ from federal aid, then they can't keep running the way they are today. No student = No Money. You can take what you want from that. But the fact is, CCI will no longer exist in 6 months, and to think you will be sold as an employee with the company is foolhardy.
