Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

To show you how absurd the crap from CCi is, just consider this...

"Fiction: It will be difficult or impossible to identify buyers for CCi’s campuses. Fact: The Company has indicated to the Department of Education that it expects to enter into definitive agreements to sell its campuses in six months. The process of finding buyers for the campuses has just begun, but the Company has already had numerous expressions of interest from potential purchasers. The Company can’t identify potential buyers at this point, nor can it predict details of the purchase process; for example, the Company does not yet know whether campuses will be sold in large groups, small groups or individually. And there can be no assurance sales will occur."

They can't identify potential buyers at this point, and there can be no assurance sales will occur, yet it's fiction to claim "It will be difficult or impossible to identify buyers for CCi’s campuses." What in the world is going on here? Why doesn't CCi just say, "We have identified many potential buyers, and each one is ready, willing and able to make the purchase." Now that would definitely refute the asserted fiction. Maybe it could be difficult to sell?

Poor enrollment numbers and all the negative publicity has to make the schools hard to sale. The longer this drags on the harder it's going to be to find buyers. Also, the uncertainty of new government regulations would make any potential buyer hesitant. Heald and WyoTech were great schools with great reputations until CCi got their hands on them and drug them through the mud.

I believe if you are a publicly traded company you cannot announce these things until an agreement is made or both parties are near agreement. Wait for the announcement concerning Heald next week.

The "fact" right before: "Fact: After evaluating all 97 U.S. campuses, Corinthian decided to “teach out” 12 because the Company did not believe it could find new owners for them." I guess it would be too difficult to find buyers for those 12...

They're going to have difficulty selling some campuses. Enrollment is on the pooper. I think the bigger story is going to be layoffs long before sales happen. Without students, they simply cannot afford to keep fully staffed.

Good call. They are essentially saying: "Fiction: It will be difficult or impossible to identify buyers for CCi’s campuses. Fact: It will be difficult or impossible to identify buyers for CCi's campuses." Which of course is typical CCi absurdity like the rest of the memo.

Well then how can they refute the claim that it's difficult to sell a campus from a failing school?

They won't say anything until the deals are made. It's basic business
