TELL THE STUDENTS THE TRUTH AND QUIT HIDING BEHIND CCI SKIRT TAIL

I think the students need to know the truth. The longer you hide it from them, the more the students don't care and leave, or just quit doing school work. Oh I forgot, the only thing you all are worried about is getting your paychecks every two weeks and talk how bad the students are. But you are also being made to say what they tell you to say. You can not speak your own mind, someone has to tell you. Ok, that is fine, you live like puppets on a string, and always let someone tell you what to do. I tell you what if you feel like talking, another student has a page on Facebook called "Everest University Concerts" come and tell the truth for once in your life. We will be waiting, if you got the guts to tell the truth.

I don't think k Robert Smith is the original poster. Robert Smith was very respectful in his response and even asked a legitimate question, to which I was the only one who responded. Everyone bring a jerk is sure making Robert and other students a very clear picture of some employees in the company. No wonder students need an outlet to post their misgivings. I really had hoped some of what I heard and read was untruths. But seeing how nasty some employees are on here, I think there's a lot of truth to what I am reading. I am an instructor (online) and had no idea of any if this stuff. Show some respect while we still have jobs, colleagues!!

Robert Smith, I think your engagement is very admirable. I'm an online instructor and I think I speak for many instructors when I say we're all shocked by the ethics of the practices that we are discovering on this site and in the press. I believe that most of the instructors are really trying to help students and will be honest with you if you have any specific questions about the situation. You might not be getting the education you hoped for, but you are getting an education in something. I predict a bright future for you.

Robert Smith, from what I have seen is the only one that has made any decent statements in regards to this supposed page "Everest Concerns" and to address the other postings, all I can say is they are making incoherent ramblings and just seem bitter in general. If I were to lend any form of credibility to any of them it would in fact be Mr. Smith. At the very least one should come into an argument with no bias and present a legitimate argument or provide evidence back their claims, rather than just rambling on. I apologize if this offends the others in any way, but on an academic level you really should come across with a little more maturity, better tone, and diction when addressing an issue, or at least that is how we do it on the college level.

@22926 You are pathetic for taking the time to respond. You should get a life and stop snooping and judging and maybe you'll be okay.

Why should it matter what the student do on social media sites? We feel as if there is no one on the inside speaking up so we use our own skills to get answers and share those with others. It's not right to keep people in the dark about situations like this. There are so many students who are clueless as to what is going on. How in the world can you complete a class without a textbook. Please, someone explain that to me! That's all I have to say. Good luck and good riddance!

If students can't access those things, contact tech services first. It could just be a technical issue. If not, use the email on your instructor's syllabus and email it by copying and pasting. Otherwise, contact your student services rep. If you can't access things, you have a right to know why. You are paying a lot for your education, things should be working!

Robert Smith, I think it's great to share valuable information with current, former and prospective students. I don't doubt they know a lot, from experience and te media. I think there are many employees who also feel that students deserve to know the truth as well. I was an instructor and I very much enjoyed many of my students. I had some wonderfully smart and engaging students. And I wish them all the very best. I wish you the very best as well. It is tough to help advocate for your fellow students, when it's clear their voices have been stifled for so long, in the name if profits. Good luck to you in this, your education, and career! Go be a great leader!

Lmao you all are real pathetic in here. Go get a life seriously. Everest is a clown college. We get it! My 4.0 GPA, worthless. Thanks for the lifetime of debt and I hope you all. As in the staff. Appreciate the fact that we wont be paying your bills anymore. Well it's been fun! Not, really!

First I would like to say I'm sorry for whoever posted on this site, and put the name of my group on FaceBook out there. Ok, yes this is my group I started on Facebook. And no I did not write this in here. I would love to say somethings in here, but it just isn't my style. When I find out who did this, I will take care of it. I started EUC on June 25, a month ago. To help students with support and to give them information about everything that is going on with CCi. Trust me, they know more than everyone think that they do. But, it would be nice for some of the advisers to tell the truth about what is going on. We know about the Teach Out and the closing of some campuses, and the online is the money maker that is going, most likely for high dollar. But there is one problem I would love to address while I am here, if you don't mind. Students are coming to me wondering why they can't access the ebook in class, and some of the portals like Doc Sharing, able to email the instructor or other classmates, they can't access either.

With that being said, I would like to say thank you for your time. And I would like to have a little respect for my group and to the students that are in there. Just remember, we are all in this together. Yes, the upper management may of been the cause of everything that is going on, and where this school in heading. In the long run, everyone will reap the outcome of everything.

Thank you,

Robert Smith

It starts with admissions and has a strong dose of market conditions. Admissions is the fuel that drives the engine (I am Career Services, but have a healthy respect for the role of admissions). Admissions is chartered with enrolling x number of students. Unfortunately, in our current economy, the highest quality potential students are, for the most part, already employed and not highly motivated to go to school. This generally leaves those that are unemployed/underemployed who are, by definition, not our nation's best and brightest. The quality of the avaialble student population does not change the goals that admissions must meet. Career schools have excess capacity, meaning there are many choices for these potential students, leaving numerous admissions departments competing for these questionable -quality students. The net result are classes of less than stellar students, placed there by admissions representatives who are driven to hit numbers without significat regard to potential student success. This is not a shot at admissions reps - I hold executive management responsible for creating the scenario and for not adjusting quickly enough - and in an ethical manner - when the market changed.

Well if my degree had better value, I'd be lucky to get a secretary job. I ended my last term with a 3.2 GPA and chose to withdraw because of the scandal. Career services sucked, they tried to count my CNA training as I got a job. I went to class and got good grades and don't have much to show for it. It stinks. No one has to not care and take out huge loans to experience what I experience.

The truth is that I have heard so many excuses for why students don't take responsibility for themselves, that it's impossible for me to understand why they take out huge loans, don't go to class ever, and then complain about their predicament. So many excuses. I just can't hear them anymore. I'm sorry for those students who really and truly damaged by their experience with CCI. I really am. But I am tired of offering solutions to the reasons they can't get the work done, only to be given more excuses. Retention is very low at CCI so probably these people complaining didn't spend much time in the classroom.

Anonymous 22908: Agreed. But heaven forbid anyone imply that they have any responsibility for how they turn out. Here's an actual conversation I had with a student: "I ain't gonna work no chump job! You done find me some job ain't no chump job!" "What sort of job wouldn't be a 'chump' job, Jane?" "Maybe sommut where I gots me a sec'etary and good office." "I think that will come later in your career, after you've developed more skills and experience." "Then what I dun pay you for? I sure ain't workin' no chump job!" (before I get hate comments please know I'm AA)

I don't know if you think everyone is doing something wrong, but that's not my case. I worked really hard to be a good instructor and I was - to those who bothered to come to class, without excuse. I would be very interested in knowing how many of the student complaints are from students with good grades, who went to class. Or if they are retroactively complaining because it suits them now. Because when I was teaching, at least 60% of students didn't bother to get the educations they took

loans out for. Don't accuse me of being a coward or some sheep. I am a free thinker. Yes, it seems like there were major problems at CCI. But, let's not all pretend that every student came to class every week and turned in assignments on time and was otherwise engaged. Because that was not the reality on the students' part. I had some great students who were smart and I think will go on to do great things. I really wish that for them. And I hope those students get Justice for whatever injustices prevailed upon them. But students who took out big loans and blew off their opportunity? That's very sad, but that's their problem, not mine.

I wonder if the OP even graduated from high school? Certainly not the most eloquent individual, is he/she? That's the problem with our business model. We're given immature illiterates and are supposed to magically transform them into career-ready adults. If they're employable at all, it's in fast food or mall retail. Some people just don't have the talent or work ethic to become professionals.
