Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Just found an interesting website

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/education/everest.html It's students telling their stories about CCi, which really gave me another perspective. I knew we were screwing our students, but why did it take so long for anyone outside the company to realize? They've been posting their issues and I imagine contacting their states and DOE. Many employees have been contacting the same entities. It's amazing how many have to get hurt (in this case, students and employees) before anyone will step in and help. This has gone on for too long.

There is no reason to be skeptical about the posts. Many of the students who actually gave a damn are the ones who post detailed or clear reviews. The students who get upset because you won't give them points for openly plagiarizing another student will probably not say anything as long as they are getting their money. It is absolutely ridiculous what some of these students think should be passing work.

I just wonder if these students complaining are students who went to class and did their work and earned their grades, or are they the students who never came to class but always had excuses for why they couldn't do anything. Since the number of non participatory students is much higher than students who participated, I am sure many of these students are whining in hindsight. I don't doubt after reading this post and media outlet stories, that many students were treated poorly and unfairly, or otherwise ignored. But, let's face it. There was a student population who were there to collect their stipends and them only showed up every 14 days to be considered current students. The curriculum wasn't exactly challenging, yet 60% us couldn't be bothered, despite the ridiculous amount of money they borrowed.

Although I do not have a positive attitude about Everest, I am skeptical about these posts. I taught for years as an adjunct and the writing style of these posts at consumeraffairs.com is far more uniform and sophisticated than would be expected from Everest students.

I guess former students didn't read 'Jack's Facts'
