Take TO and look for a new job!
Academics could take some time off, so they can stop doing participation.appeal calls that don't get answered.
I don't mind taking (some) time off. I have been through worse than this, taken 3 months off and survived. I can take the time to travel, I have savings. This is a good opportunity for me. I understand not everybody is as lucky.

I'd say the entire A/P department can use some time off, they aren't really doing anything, not answering phones, not paying bills yet those hourly/salary employees and still pulling a payroll check...and spending 2 hours at lunch and several Starbucks jaunts a day...Seriously? RK I'd been embarrassed if I were you...what an insult to folks still working.
