It has been posted on this board for months..SEVERANCE IS NOT A RIGHT...and when a company has no cash, they WONT pay it because they don't HAVE to. You stayed , deal with it.
They had the money to pay severance then. I doubt they do now with how enrollments have been doing.
In years past, when large layoffs occurred, severance WAS paid, 1 week for every year of service, until Feb 2014, then it was just a percentage of your salary
As of March 2014, (all Directors and above) received an email, severance will no longer be offered. You will be paid your salary of hours worked and paid your accumulated vacation, which that policy has changes as well, a lot of things have been determined, I would contact your local HR/Payroll to see where your location stands on these and other matters concerning a pay out

And the "severance" laws ONLY apply to union members because it is part of their CBA. Last I checked, CCI doesn't do CBA's.
Anonymous23820: also note that the WARN Act does not require severance, only 60 days notice in the situations in which it applies. It is designed to protect employees in layoffs when plants are closed and the employer had advance notice that it was imminent but did not disclose that to workers.
23818 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worker_Adjustment_and_Retraining_Notification_Act (there are a number of exceptions that CCI could claim depending on who they were laying off and where - for example, they can lay off up to 33% of staff or less than 50 at any single location, or claim that they are a "faltering company")
Correction: "laying off more than 50 equals severance" (site doesn't recognize a lot of symbols).
Anonymous23812 - where do you get the laying off of >50 = severance? I've never heard that before and I worked in HR for a long time. That may be a California thing? As far as the DOE, did they put that in an agreement? It sounds like something that really isn't their business.
Everybody is non essential. They cut mass instructors at ECPO because they were non essential. Funny, right? Instructors at a college are least important. If that's the case, nobody's safe.
Flash news. Expected.
At 23803, I'm saying rumors of layoffs have circulated for weeks and there hasn't been any "massive" layoffs, just a few here and there. Trust me, this place won't been around by Dec. but no sense in people panicking. And BTW, by law, and the DOE they can not lay off more than 50 across the entire organization UNLESS the want to pay severance and they are avoiding that....
CSC Santa Anus: Is that your philosophy? Pretend nothing is happening and be a good little worker bee for the lying SOBs? And you call others "idiots"??? Wow, just wow.
Mass hysteria!Idiots, don't listen to rumors...just work...
23793: Our enrollment is down and dropping. We're not allowed to enroll in a few states at all (probably more to be announced soon). Socle clients are backing out. We need fewer and fewer staff due to less and less enrolling/educating going on. I think there will be significant layoffs by the end of the week.
ExHeald - I thought all we had left was essential personnel? Haven't we cleaned house of "non-essential" a few times now?
Are you the loser troll, or actually in a position to know something? I vote we totally ignore this person unless he/she gives us some real sounding info on who he/she is and how he/she would know about any layoffs. There's been way too much bullshit!
My contacts inside Heald shared this information with me last night, and another this morning. Any personal deemed "non escentual" will be let go.
