Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

My Prediction

CCI will sell Everest and WyoTech. Will retain Heald and rebrand with new management. Anyone else have thoughts on what will happen?

Yes. I have thoughts. Those include massive layoffs and limping along until they give schools away or teach them all out. A tanking company with no line if credit and sinking enrollment is not in a position to retain schools, much less rebrand. Discuss what you want, but on the face of it, problems are huge. They don't ask employees to take a paycut and unpaid time off because their p-card payments are behind. They can't pay vendors. Vendors. So, what will they rebrand with? They have no $, rapidly declining students, and vendors they can't pay now. For starters. How will they rebrand?

"Discontinued operations" includes selling, but does not include keeping.

Heald is too small of a market for CCI to retain and maintain operations from Santa Ana. It's better off for Both Heald and CCI to sell.

"Discontinued operations" is for accounting purposes. Heald has potential buyers and will most likely sell.

Not a chance. Heald is already in discontinued operations. http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1066134/000110465914049394/a14-16284_18k.htm My guess is the main problem is that ~$200M in goodwill and the impairment test.
