Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Just an idea...

Why don't those of you that obviously hate your jobs just quit an save the company some money? Or is it that you just like to complain...

Faculty are underpaid for the amount of work required given the student demographic and administrative tasks (outreach, sub, tutoring, etc). They cannot be away from their classes even one day a week (except the California faculty since there is a State requirement of having at least one day off). Faculty must have at least a master's degree, which is higher education requirement than most positions.

Low 50s. Often 40+ hours with 7 days in their classes. Faculty are expected to check their e-mail within 24 hours and participate in discussions at least every other day, so a 2-day weekend away from classes is never possible. Outreach (email, Skype calls, and Talisma data entry) takes hours each week. Subbing for other faculty (ft and adjuncts) means double or triple the amount of work is possible for a given week(s). Tutoring of students other than your own is a requirement. Phone faculty shifts are also expected.

And full time faculty has much higher education requirements then Admissions, Academics, or finance.

Full time faculty are responsible for the student experience in class and the actual education. Last I checked, those were pretty much why a student goes to college. Add in the students that CCI targets...yeah, I would say Full time faculty is underpaid (and I am not faculty).

What do full time online faculty make? $55k? For how many hours of work a week?

Faculty, sadly, is the ONLY position where people are UNDERPAID.

24351 - Uhm no. My new job is paying me 50% more than my old CCI job (and no, I was faculty, not in admissions or other position with commission).

I only expect to be fairly compensated, as had been the case for almost 11 years.

Hey troll, many of us are looking for jobs. Don't you know that it's better to have a job while looking for one than not? Grow up.

Because they know that even with a 10% cut in pay, they are making WAY more then their next job will pay them.
