Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Each and Every Associate

“Software development”

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) McHenry, IL

Pros – Location means reasonable commute time. Work from home policy helps with the work/life balance. Flexible hours.

Cons – Morale is down the toilet along with bonus, benefits and profit sharing. Constant reduction in benefits with no end in sight. Periodic layoffs leave you constantly wondering if you will be next. The Follett family's new values revolve around increasing their shareholder value. Being profitable isn't enough. Record profits aren't enough. They want more.

Advice to Senior Management – Quite telling me you value "each and every associate" while you continue to cut benefits. You've destroyed morale. Merging the various companies into a single entity has created chaos. Outsourcing jobs may cut the hour!y cost but you are not looking at the total cost of a project due to higher defect rates and lower efficiency. It isn't cheaper if it takes more people longer with more errors.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

How about the requirement for family to work outside the company? Whatever happened to that?

So much for the code of conduct. Mr. Heat only finds what he's told to find.

I worked for a national vendor. We were pressured to hire a Litzinger. He was OK. He knew he was a short timer AND untouchable.

The sad thing is the family only knows what MLS tells them. If they ever bring in an independent auditor they will be shocked at the stupid decisions she and the senior management made and the cost to the bottom line that those stupid decisions cost them. Many of the layoffs were based on getting rid of those associates that tried to tell them these were really bad ideas. DG still thinks he's in the Marine Corp and part time employees with no benefits are going to do the same job as full time employees with benefits. HA! FO, you've failed! MLS, you're a nut job. DF, how much blood do you think you can get out of vendors before they say FY? Follett Family, get an independent auditor and round up some of the laid off workers and ask them where MLS, DG, and FO have hidden their costly stupid decisions. Living the values? Like having your directors forcing vendors to hire their relatives and telling them what to pay them? Unbelievable!
