Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

10% really isn’t all that much…

When you consider that in order to get hired anywhere else, directors and above will need to list an hourly type position, 10% is nothing compared to what they will end up making. Two things you should NEVER list on a resume: 1) you earned a degree from Everest, 2) you were in management at Cci. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Never lie on your resume. They will find your job history during a background check/run of your ss number, which shows where you've paid taxes to. If they find out, they won't hire you. If they find out you lied after you get a job, it is grounds for immediate dismissal. And a large gap in your resume will hinder you more than who you last worked for.

I disagree. Most companies and colleges have no real idea what's going on. Probably ITT is monitoring us to see what going to happen to them. But, even with all the news media, most people don't know or care. And they may recognize CCI, but not Everest, Wyotech or Heald. I myself just made the cut for two jobs which I am deciding between. Both of which I applied for after this mess was made public. It did not hinder me. (I'm not upper management.) But even if a potential employer knows, most don't care. Do you know how many companies have tanked since 2007? Thousands. And they move onto other jobs, despite failures of companies. I don't think this is going to stop anyone from getting a job. It's very likely a lot of managers are already weighing offers. You would be surprised at how businesses work. Upper level management is a very small community. Everyone has each others' backs. That's the reality. There's no blacklists. It's all about who you know in the business world.
