Subs During Time off for Instructors

If they want us to grade assignments and do outreach, it doesn't sound like they are planning on having subs in classes. And btw, do they get that outreach is like, 60% of our time? I'm not doing Outreach. That takes at least 10 hours a week, if not more!

25212, I'm an online adjunct and my experience is exactly the same as yours. I feel like the quality of interactions with the students has gone down because of all this mandatory "outreach" to students who don't want to talk with us.

It's still too early in our term for me to tell, but last term they never removed students who did not participate for 14 consecutive days. Not a one (though they had in previous terms, so I wonder if that was so they could keep all FA? Seemed very fishy to me, but as instructors, we have no control over attendance.) So, as the students began to drop like flies (always do) I had to continue to do Outreach for all those students. It took forever. If they get them off the Gradebook, it helps. But to do a Outreach for all students every week for the term is time consuming and depressing.

If they want me to take unpaid time off, I'm not working at all. They can't have it both ways. I never emailed Jack and offered to work work free and so don't intend on doing it now.
