Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

How do you justify

Cutting salaries, mandating unpaid time off for some, and ask for volunteers to take unpaid time off......and then have a training class starting soon?? This is Tempe ECPO and all I can say is WTF? Is there any common sense left with CCi?

All I know is they cut pay and are asking employees to take unpaid time off. That's never an indicator a company is doing well. If they're looking to have cheaper labor, they will do whatever it takes to get it. The laws have never been a problem before. They treated the DOE like their little bitch. Why would Fitzgerald be any different? For all we know, he and Hack at golf at the club in the Hamptons on the weekends.

Have there been more PIPs than usual? That's usually an indicator that they're going to fire instead of lay off. I hate to say it, but it wouldn't surprise me if they brought in cheap staff and then fired the higher paid, current ones.

26185 - I think there are rules in place when you have a layoff, and that the monitor may have to approve any plans. I wonder if they're still allowed to fire? They love doing that!

26915, I hope not. But nothing would surprise me.

This is totally just a thought, but maybe they are bringing in people they are paying crap to, have staff train them and then will layoff higher paid staff?

Don't confuse CCI management actions and logic. Sneak into the training room while the instructor is on break and shout "Run! Run for your lives!!!"

Wonder what they're paying them?

have you had a lot of admissions staff leave? If they are still enrolling, they might be replacing some of them.

I do not understand this either. Cutting paid of existing employees but hiring new people. The only possible explanation is that they are being hired at really low pay or preparing a workforce for a teach out. But that is probably a stretch.

Admissions always needs training--here is how you smile, and now let's practice. Here is how you dial, and now let's pause to practice.

I'm at ECPO. What is the training for? Faculty or non-faculty?

There is no common sense to this. People are not sure whether to take the voluntary unpaid time off or not. They're worried it will reflect badly them if they do or don't. Also, those getting their salaries cut, aren't really sure what group is affected by it. People aren't really getting a straight answer. They're getting the "This is what I think..." type of answer.
