Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

What did CCI do wrong? Facts only please:

The media (except WSJ) has spun a giant web of lies and the employees and students are suffering for this.

'instructor' jobs are 70% Outreach, 30% teaching.

In Jack's words (yes, I'm paraphrasing because I forget the exact quote), "Somewhere we lost trust. Us with the DoE, and the DoE with us." When you snub the DoE at every turn, ignore their requests, hide behind plausible degrees of deniability for what happens at the campus level, hand out McDonald gift cards to students to file for loan deferrals... etc etc etc. then that is what you get - lost trust.

Culture is not what the marketing department scribes on the side of CCi's 'pillars'. Culture is 'how things are done around here'. And Jack et all created a culture where deceit, fraud, and predatory business practices were the norm - not those words on the pillars.

And now we all pay the price. Yes, apologies are in order one would think. But unlikely, as that would be tantamount to culpability.

To the post that says Bob Bosic tried to control costs, last year after we were told there would be no merit raises to save jobs there was a large rif at our campus. Then two weeks later Bob Bosic and the division president shows up at our campus in a chauffeur driven limousine. This is the absolute truth. Now you figure out why this company is broke.

Don't forget creating a farcical plagiarism policy that basically gives students 4...oh wait, it's just been revised...EIGHT chances per term before they are sent to a "committee" that will consider expelling them from school. I mean, you can't keep asses in classes if you punish people for plagiarizing, right?

Leadership has lied and failed us. They owe their employees and apology for what's happening. Nobody believes the media has lied. If anything, they ought to do more digging.

This may not be illegal, but it's beyond reprehensible. Someone posted on here that certain recruiting managers use the motto 'asses in the classes.' Pretty sure every college in the world has slightly higher standards.

Designed curriculums that continue to get easier and easier. If you are an online student, you need only post to the threads once every 14 days to be marked present. Even if you just type 'hi' you are marked present. So technically if you went in the threads 7-8 times (once every 2 weeks) and typed 'hi' in the threads, you would be marked present for the term. You may not pass, but that's not the goal. Cci's goal is retention for the FA money.

Promoting idiots in positions they are not qualified for. The "Homegirl/Homeboy" hookup killed the company's integral structure.

Not drug screening employees to ensure decisions were made without being under the influence of drugs. Nikki Carnegie stop sniffing cocaine!

Not dropping students for zero attendance and keeping money that should go back to government.

Deans, ADs and PDs falsifying attendance records and changing grades. Also, pressuring instructors to pass and give out good grades for zero effort by students. And then blaming instructors for crap retention. (That last part not illegal-but f*** them. It's immoral.)

They did a terrible job at holding people accontable for what they were hired for. Bob Owen piss poor job manging the finances not qualified for that token role. HE also approved the company to start acting as the gap-loan funder for students to assist with the 90/10 rule thus creating a huge monthly interest payment to be paid that grew like the national debt. David Beaver CPO "token purchasing VP role" piss poor job controling and executing corporate purchase agreements. Carmella Cassessa "then CIO" managing her team of loose cannons for IT related expenses. Huge loss of money for ata center cnsolidations. Riaan Kruger under Carmella clusless for infrastrues and lost $$$ on the infrastructure and the campus technology upgrades. Not to mention the call center change and the in-house lead process. Roger Van Duinen has no clue about marketing as well as Bill Bucnannan who is also in marketing. The list goes on and on. No pnoe individual who should be credited for doing a good job is Bob Bosic, he astually looked to control expenses.
