State laws vary. In general employers cannot take away vacation time already earned. Some states allow unused vacation time to expire at the end of the year but accrued vacation time to be paid as part of a benefit plan is like wages earned. Your employee cannot "confiscate" your vacation that is earned - at least legally. But why should employees be treated better than students?

HELL NO! You can refuse to work whether you are paid on time or not. Unfortunately, your employer can terminate you for any reason or no reason so long as it does not violate anti-discrimination criteria. Sucks. GREED has caused this whole mess!
