Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Petition at Change.org

Okay, so I KNOW I am inviting a metric ton of snark by posting this, but for anyone who would NOT take pleasure in seeing Corinthian implode in the coming days for whatever reason (for me, that reason is my students), here it is:

This corporation has been caught doing what others have done & even CCI was caught at most of this stuff before. They've paid Million$ in settlements. There are always employees who do their best with good intentions - even in a scofflaw corporation. They aren't the ones in the know. Give up dreaming and put your energy into finding a more reputable employer. Maybe you can get some of those students you helped to give you references.

Thank you for posting this.

I am the sole financial provider for my family.

I work hard, I have great co-workers and come to work everyday because we are part of that plan in changes our student's lives.

I may have to decide whether to buy diapers or pay for my house next week.

I wish that people don't judge us as a whole when there are a great percentage of us who truly love our students and do our jobs wholeheartedly. Call me a dreamer but I am continually praying for a miracle.

Community colleges are not seen as "professional or vocational." They don't sell employment, they sell education. The vast majority of those students plan to transfer to a state university. A "max out" of loans at a community college is nowhere near as much as at CCI because the overall cost of attendance is not nearly as high. You don't leave a community college with $40k after two years, you do at CCI. And please don't tell me you buy the "placement" rates published by CCI. That would just be stupid.

I am not sure what was going on in some of the schools that people post on here, but the school I used to work for had placement rates and grad rates well in excess of the local community colleges. Some will add that CC is cheaper, but a finance friend of mine at a local CC said many students maxed their loans out anyway even though Pell alone covered their tuition. I don't know how a survey would help but I hope at least someone will get some common sense and realize the best thing for the students and employees is a planned teach-out of schools being shut down and allow the schools without regulatory issues to be sold.

Take a step back. Is any and every job worth saving? What about Common Thieves and Mass Murderers?

Maybe your part in burying students in debt, defrauding students and keeping Jack M in comfort really isn't worth an intervention.

CCI has spend hundreds of thousand$ to influence legislators and avoid compliance. Gee, if it was as easy as a petition on change.org they should have done it long ago. Shows you how smart they are at the home office.

Now CCI wants its minions to get out there and do what they could not... save their butts. Good luck with that.

CCi should have a bake sale. Likely more money would be raised.
