Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Some people are probably facing prison time. Turning your head away and pretending that enrolling people who have no business

being in school could be construed as a crime. Would enroll a blind person for an automotive program or a mentally retarded homeless person to make numbers, heck yeah you would. Just to keep your job, pathetic! I hope all of you are prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law!

13482...and yet this person with a 3rd grade reading level managed 13 years of the school system. Where is your disdain for the system that failed him as a child. Now you're up in arms because he is "taken advantage of" as an adult...

Have you ever READ the ADA requirements? All this "we have to enroll them" per ADA is BS. CCI enrolls them for the easy $$ - otherwise they would provide the accommodations and only enroll individuals able to do the course work. Accommodations cost $$.Recruiters enroll them to meet their goals. Another disgusting despicable exploitation of individuals unable to read the fine print. Who cared it they took on unrelenting debt? Not the individuals here making excuses as they chase the phantom of a decent employer helping those in need.

Why did he have to press his nose to the monitor? Ummmm. He was not provided with an accommodation that magnified the text or the screen. The laws against discrimination state that they must have the ability to do the task (job, coursework, etc) with a reasonable accommodation. You have just proven CCI does not provide the accommodations. Now about that guy with the 3rd grade reading level who thought he could get a job in law enforcement ...

STFU and save the bullshit. I saw a guy on Ripley's Believe it or not paint portraits with his mouth. Would you hire this guy for anything - F no! Do you think the blind guy is gainfully employed, doubtful. So save the nonsense one in a million stories that you just happened to encounter.

Ask DARS if admissions is allowed to be selective. Ever heard of the ADA?

There are laws in place to also not discriminate against people with disabilities. I used to be a computer networking instructor, I had a blind student. Imagine that! I was like, "WTF!" but he would press his nose against the monitor and read. He not only earned very good grades, he was able to pass Microsoft Certification MCP exam and the CompTia exams...We have no right to judge anyone's ability on site or first meeting. If the desire and effort is there, people who we judge as "not able to" may just surprise you. Do you think LB State would have turned him away? Nope, but it would have taken a lot longer than 7 months to earn his certifications.
