Unemployment benefits

Does anyone know if we can file for unemployment benefits if we don't get paid on Friday?

Depends on your employment status and how state law defines being unemployed. Working for free is not legal and not "employment." Call your state dept of labor or whatever state office handles unemployment. Find out what the waiting period is. Ask about filing even if you are adjunct. It does't cost you to file no matter what the answer.

Of course not!! State is not responsible for wages not paid by employer.

If they just come out and say, "We cannot pay," then I'd file right then.

I would first notify the company that you were overlooked. lol. In my state there is a very short period of time for an employer to make a correction, if there is no dispute about the amount owed.
