Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

For the instructor who thinks faculty should be safe.

As of March 31, 2014, CCi has collected $95,979,000 in tuition that is not earned. In other words, CCi has collected nearly $100 million, yet the students are not even in class yet. The cash level is under $29 million. If the students didn't show up for class, then CCi would need to refund $100 million with less than $29 million. The money has been long gone. You have been paid with future dollars for some time now.

If there are no faculty then there will be no one to teach the students and submit grades and confirm attendance, you need to keep the ones currently enrolled in order to keep financial aide coming in. I for one will NOT be submitting final grades if I do not get paid this Friday . . .

Your analysis I am sure is well thought out, accurate and appreciated. Certainly the end is near but it is not this Friday. There are to many other cards in play. I don't think they were referring to being safe but guarded, unlike many nay sayers on this board. Let's see what the week brings, come Friday or before, we will all know for certain. Regardless, we are all in it who remain employed. At the very least we should all champion for a short term solution at best to take care of the students and our own immediate needs.
