Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Maybe those shouting QUIT are just trying to avoid paying out so much unemployment

I know this is a stretch, but I know the company is worried about all of the unemployment that would have to be paid out. What if this is HR or some company rep trying to convince people to quit with "honor"... also some of the posts yesterday seemed like someone trying to start gossip and spread lies to challenge the credibility of other things posted here. I don't tend to be a conspiracy theorist but at this point, if you have not gone already, you would be doing CCI favor to quit today.

It's not being a conspiracy theorist to question the intent of some of these posts. It seems obvious that a lot are designed to either misinform, or to be so crude as to turn people off from reading further down. Who would be motivated to do those things?

Please don't quit. It's not a question of being loyal and working for free out of a sense of duty, and I can understand wanting to give CCi the finger and make a bold exit. You need to stay to make sure you can get unemployment. Check with your local office about how and when to file your claim. In my state, the first time the company misses payroll you can file immediately and backdate the application to the start of that pay period. Unemployment takes a few weeks to start coming in, so file as soon as you can. Do NOT quit and then try to collect. There are different processes in different states, but some (eg Florida) make it almost impossible to collect if you were fired or quit.

It must be an issue. This was overheard from a divisional HR guys own mouth as he explained the issue to our CP last week.

Unemployment insurance is deducted from your wages. Like any insurance you pay a premium. Whet a bunch of dummies.
