Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Unethical company

I witness unethical practices every day. Lying to the students about cost and time frames to graduate. I spoke to students that could not even read. Old lonely people taken advantage of by enrolling them in degree programs such as criminal justice and homeland security. What is a 70 old lady going to do with a CJ degree? I saw students with no title IV funding left, owned Everest $20,000 plus were talked into taking out $30,000 genesis loans and were no where close to getting a degree! The list goes on and on.

The goal is to help students get to their goals. This is ethical and is a good idea so they can be successful. I think the people that make posts here don't know specifically students. They get the benefit of jibs and education.

I am currently teaching for the CJ program and there is no logical reason for a student to pay the amount they do for security work. All they have to do is pay for their security badge and start working. No real training required. Don't get me wrong I have had a few actually continue with the Academy but not many. Or they do not pass their background.

Isn't CJ police training? Do they have to go through police academy? This is tough for older students.

@ 15366 30k is the maximum limit. It is easy to hit the max when you have no Title IV funding left.

CJ is useless. They just end up security guards.

Would you mind explaining how one gets a $30k genesis loan?

At 15281. You don't know me so stop judging! The stuff went on constantly. I spoke to supervisors about the unethical things I saw and heard and was told to do my job. Who was I to determine someones future. To act as if you were not a part of the problem is naive. I told people all of the time that they should consider going elsewhere such as a community college. If and when we got monitored or if someone overheard us say anything about them not being a fit, we were spoken to in not so nice language.

Completely agree! You have achoice, if the prospective student is not a good fit let them go and work harder. Thats just lazy and unethical and the reason cci is in this mess. That does not hapoen at my campus! Unreal

That is so sad you even said this to us. You call yourself ethical. I have seen people older as well. The best thing told might want try junior college if the keep telling need go school. I even had lady wanted enroll in our school to get grants to pay her rent. Once again told this school probably great fit for her. She did not enroll. I have ethic. This is stories people more concern about there job that got part of us getting in trouble. I hope your proud and talking crap about the company. 15275 You are part of the problem. This is not me defending the company at all.
