Useful? You really are stupid. But I guess that's why you can't do better than CCI. Are you an OC Republican too?

Actually understanding the cycle of poverty and how social expectations are different than those of the middle and upper economic classes is.useful when teaching this student population.

Poverty isn't that hard to relate to for most working people - we aren't too far away from it if we have immigrant parents - even with my education, as an adjunct I was in the low income category.

One of the traits of those in poverty is hostility towards education. They have failed in school "because of teachers." At my campus the training was meant to help us understand this and not get upset when they blamed us for them failing to show up or turn in work.

Just looked up the book. This review was scary: "Absolutely the worst pseudoscience garbage you could read. We actually had this book assigned in order to criticize what it is all about. If you want to read about elitist classicist ways to treat minority and low SES children then by all means read this book." What was the training for? To actually help people or to take advantage of them? It did also have some good reviews.

Yes! Every single meeting was poverty training! We had a multi-campus meeting on poverty followed up by several all hands meetings on poverty at our school! On the third or fourth time, our DAA just played some required audio and we all did other things.
