Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

The goal is to reach a capital structure that better addresses our current operating environment.

Anyone want to take a stab at that? Maybe he should of said we are trying to avoid bankruptcy...

By "reach a capital structure that better addresses our current operating environment" he really means make the investors and shareholders happy. Its all about money, not the "student". If they really cared about having successful schools they would not let people who can't read or do simple arithmetic enroll. There are so many checks and balances for career services and financial aid but, ironically, none for academics. Even middle and high schools have tests to check competency. EDMC schools have nothing. Maybe accrediting agencies should institute a competency test to ensure students are actually learning and not just being passed. It seems there is a 12 step process for career services now so why not guarantee the academic section is also top notch?

Hey EDMC is great, man where else can you sit on your ass all day and sign up people your would not liver next to. I went to St. Vincents, my mom paid, can you imagine borrowing money for education. I don't seat any of this, I have so much shit on these guys they will never fire me.

I got the job I was banging Aimee Saxon, shit that was easy. Now anytime I want I can go to work for Penske, but my mom says I can stay with her. Besides Eric, this guy I worked with said he can get me on over at UPS anytime--no sweat.

So we hang out together all the recruiters and drink a few brews. Ed is a good guy. My greatest ambition in life is to go find Oliver North and suck his dick.

In the Businessweek article, he mentions finalizing a capital structure based on ongoing discussions with lenders. Couple that with the request for a 5-year business plan in the waiver deal, and perhaps there is more going on here.

I look for a sharp decline on the stock price today. I can't imagine anyone buying it unless they intentionally want to downgrade their portfolio. Of course with the current operating environment and the best interest of the students and keeping the cost of tuition affordable and making it possible for everyone to have a college experience......They will find some idiot with money to blow.

Also I should add that I have been ripped off by 3 vending machines this week. Perhaps upper management is trying increase profits by taking your change from a Diet Coke. Of course with the students best interest in mind.
