their President has told them that only a few under producing schools will be closed and that they were staying for the long run. I referred them to the press releases and received nothing in return. How can this be true??? If they aren't informed what about the students?

At least for a few months, the buyers will keep things as they are. They want stability for the brands. They will then be looking to expand enrollment once the heat from DOE is off. This is a business.
Whether we believe the company is closing or not, we still have students to take care of and clean up work to do. If they sell and/or teach out the programs at my campus, the financial aid packaging must still be completed. I can't just walk out and leave unfinished work because of all this. Especially with no new opportunity yet. Most of us at the campus level don't earn enough to have a huge nest egg set up.
As for the presidents and directors, they are trying to maintain a positive attitude at the campus level so yes, they are going to say everything is going to be fine and try to make it seem better than it is. Remember, it is a sales based company and sales people are trained to make you feel good.

Seriously, stop posting about Koolaid. This is a business and these are employees. This is not a cult, there's no Koolaid to drink. People have to make a living and if they choose to stay until the end, it's their choice. Then they move on to the next thing.
