Done with doing Outreach: both Skype and Talisma

Sick of it. Busy work that yields no results. You keep emailing, texting, and calling 95% of students in your classes repeatedly each week. The same ones. Definition of insanity. Makes management look like they are really trying help the students when all they care about is how many Talisma transactions are entered.

Absolutely right. Half the time Talisma doesn't work. No one answers the phone or responds. Wasted time and efforts just to look good.

I noticed in the last 3 years, a big increase in the number of students who had problems with old, broken laptops that took many weeks for Everest to fix. Then when the Tech Support group became useless, I figured the focus is not on student success. The focus is on money and cutting corners. So all this emphasis on 'saving' students by putting it on our backs is clearly misplaced. "Saving students" for what? High loan debt, and more income for CCI?

Yep, It happens. Some students will participate a bit the first couple of weeks until they get their student aid check. Then they disappear and I call them week after week. IF I finally reach someone they flip out on me for harassing them and demand (in much more colorful words than I used) that I stop calling them.

tired of getting cursed at by so-called students. so many of the ones i actually reach (like 1 every few weeks) sound like they are high on something. that's how the financial aid money gets used by them.

Yup me too. I once had to hound a student last term and actually go the student on the phone for the first time. After asking the FERPA questions to ensure I had the right person (they reluctantly answered them), I was like, "It's Week 11 and I'm really concerned about your grade. It's a 2.4%". The student told me there was no f#%#n way they would pass and didn't care. Why are you f#%#n people calling me? I had to put on a happy face and tell them that I was required to do that. The student hung up.
