We're in our daily faculty meeting and one of the PL's just said that the bad press is unfair. She claims Everest is basically the same as any accredited state University, it is just being judged more harshly. The PD is also claiming that the school has done absolutely nothing wrong. There are no improvements that need to be made, no policy changes needed, she says were just being unfairly targeted because of the for-profit status. I'm not saying we should browbeat the school, and I''m not saying there aren't some good employees, but it seems idiotic to me to continue to keep heads in the clouds pretending everything is great. Obviously they have done SOMETHING wrong at some point. I doubt people at ED are just sitting around thinking up ways to pick on innocents for no reason.

Maybe they're waiting to see what the 20 states investigating CCI consider the most illegal placement practices ... lying about the rates, faking placements or paying for placements. 17068: Whose money paid those contracts? Student Tuition?
CCI has already admitted that some placement rates it reported were false. Why is that still an issue?
17080 I agree in part. Only I wouldn't even be an exec getting rich by scamming innocent students. I agree about WE. Never will I have to say WE again when speaking of this waste of a company.
17068 has it right. We are working hardy to help students. Let us not let the DOE or Wall Street push blame here.
in your face
Anonymous17072- If you read the filing, you should note that the the charge was "non-cash." This was about losing a tax benefit, not having to actually send cash to the IRS.
so sad for you who refer to CCI as "we" had taxes to pay..I'd never want to be in that club unless maybe I were a highly paid exec not some chump making a sucker low salary and working tons of free overtime.
Anonymous17068- You fail to address that CCi's financial responsibility score would require the increased monitoring anyway. And that's not to mention that while the placement rates may be "backed up by the data," what you fail to mention is that the data is a fraud.
We had a 73 million tax charge that we had to take (pay). Please see the SEC filing on that.
job placements aside, why did Corinthian have so little money in reserves? can't even operate without a bridge loan..is that a good or sustainable business model?
I am sure she made the Kool Aid for the meeting too........
That is funny. Heads in the clouds!!! What is it going to take!!??
You would be incorrect about the ED, they are now going after ITT. I said before because I have knowledge that the placement rates we have been reporting to the ED is backed up by the data. If the data was way off don't you think the ED would be silent as they are? Hell no they would be in the news screaming that the caught CCI lying. Perhaps the reason the agreement isn't completed is that the ED is running into some justification issues for doing what they have done? What is the issue of the ED? The placement rate or the loans?
Here is the question I wish everyone who posts negative information on here would answer. The ED approves the loans and CCI teaches the class. If that student does not show up or passes who fault is that? CCI or the ED? Neither it is the student's fault for not showing up. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
Foreigners are used to corruption that is why they see US policies as harsh and unfair
